Westland is nothing special. Canton Township is somewhat newer and nicer, for the most part.

Canton is 1990s suburbia. Westland is 1950s-1970s suburbia; small ranches, older strip malls, etc.

If you have a choice between the two, choose Canton. Westland is an aging, blighted, inner-ring suburb.

Avoid Ford Rd near I-275 at all costs. Especially this time of year.

My two cents: urban sprawl for both, no quaint downtowns or such districts which some people have said they were looking for. You won't want for lack of mall shopping.

You should consider western parts of Canton or even better, areas near downtown Plymouth for better quality of life all around.

There is a section of Westland that is in the Livonia School District that seems nicer than some areas of Westland.

Westland Is An Overall DUMP, the schools are crap, the houses are okay sized, it was good in the 1980's and 1990's like one step from Livonia but now its just trashy, getting more ghetto people from Inkster and detroit and the schools are terrible now, the part of westland north of warren is pretty nice, its basically Livonia schools, but anywhere south Of That is a dump especially the area Off between Annapolis and Van Born from Henry ruff to Inkster
