Default Negotiating with builders

What kind of success stories are there out there with negotiating with builders in this terrible economy? Typically builders around here "do not negotiate", but I have to wonder what kind of deals people are getting on new builds with this housing market?

Well,it's not a good time to buy brand new building, they rip you off.Me and my wife was looking to buy a condominium (brand new ) in Brownstown Mi.They were charging 130000 $ (so cheap made, not worth the money),which was way too much .We end up buying a HUD home with 56 000 $.So I think, these days is a good time to buy Foreclosed or HUD homes, they've got real good prices on those houses

I do nto understand why someone would buy a new home at twice the price of any previously owned home. Is it really worth that much to pick your own curtains?

"The heartbreak of poor quality will outlast the thrill of the deal". That is on my business cards. If you are getting a "deal", it is being made up someplace. If to many people get "deals", where is your warranty when the contractor goes out of business?
