From what I understand, a memorial marker for the 1987 Flight 255 disaster is located on a hill at the I-94 and Middlebelt Road intersection. That said, from what I can see on Google Maps, there doesn't seem to be a road to it or any nearby parking access.

So... that said, what is the best way to go visit the memorial marker? Anyone happen to know the best place to park?

I think you can see the memorial marker in the center of this satellite image from Google Maps:

It seems like the best option would be to park at one of the fast food restaurants or hotels down the street. Of course I don't know how well that'd go if you don't at least patronize the restaurants, but other than that the actual parking lot you can go to is a bit of walking away in very not so pedestrian friendly pathways. The closest one looks to be a 1/2 mile down Middlebelt.

You can pull over onto the shoulder of that expressway on-ramp. Leave your flashers on. The cops shouldn't give you a hard time if they see what you are there for.
