I am there with most of the rest of you. My barber charges $9 and I give a $2 tip.

I think a lot depends on the venue also. If you frequent a "salon" where haircutting is an "experience", styling and attention to detail is an "art", you would gladly drop more loot on 'em.

I will say, the one place I did nto tip was like that. A friend convinced me to go there. They take your shirt and give you a smock to wear, they have wine and cheese and a paerson gives you a shoulder massage while you wait. Three people cut your hair. A sylist with an assisnt and an artitic manager who stands there and givs directions. Valet Parking. Wine/Champaign and cheese served throughout.

The cost - $65 (and that was abbout 20 years ago). No way was I going to leave a tip, they arelared cleaned me out ehough.

I would think it might be better to give no tip.
Any tip's better than no tip.

We prefer the term "Fiscal Conservatives."

And isn't such a place about 99% theatre with little other substance? Okay, some people like to be indulged and pampered - not me. I want to get on to other things as quickly as possible.

My haircut is $15 and I give a $10 tip. I walk in and she knows exactly how I want my hair done. Perfect cut every time, and shes fun to talk to. There are some really cheap people out there. It's actually sad.

I hated it and could not wait to escape. I do not like people touching me if they are not family or close friends and they woudl not stop touching me. It was the most pretentious place I have ever been (and I lived in Newport Beach at the time, so it had lots of competition). And the hair cut was not all that great. the gal the later cut my hair from a station int he breezway of her home did a much better job (it grew out better).

Folks who are fiscally conservative aren't bad people.

Rather, they have a different outlook on things in life and thus value things differently from you.

Im a barber. I make 50% commission. If I spent 40 mins. On making your hair fantastic, & you dont leave me a tip, I am averaging 9.00 an hour. We rely on tips in the service industry. Also note, if you dont tip, I WILL remember that next time. You guys should be ashamed of yourselves.
