here's a good vide of Detroit ghetto that I found on youtube.

Gives everyone a great glimpse at the decay and destruction in that city:

I fail to see how that's really much different than any other inner city area of a big industrial city. That doesn't represent all of Detroit at ALL and is NOTHING like the suburbs. Be assured of that.

This shows some nicer parts of Detroit ( I believe along the Southfield or Jeffries Service Drive at the beginning)

I agree, it's not representative of all of Detroit. But I thought it was interesting and shows the parts that are in ruin.

Hello the lights are on but no one is home Jenny!
The people re-elected Jenny because the alternative was a Dick...Dick DeVos, that is. Oh yes, a white, billionaire Republican is all about the little man! He can definately understand and relate to the common people! The guy's commercials reminded me of a snake-oil salesman. Yuck.

I think he would have been a better guy than Jenny. What did we have to lose? She screwed up pretty big, how could he have been worse? Dick DeVos owns a huge Michigan based company, and I do think he had Michigan's best interests in mind, unlike whatever Granholm has in mind (make lots of false promises and grow moles on her face).

I, along with many others, couldn't agree more with you!

Many suburbs are great around there. The city itself is a whole other story...

Even the city is an area of contrasts. I've never felt threatened during the daytime in downtown or near Wayne State. I like that the "good areas" are well-delineated. In Philadelphia, you never quite know. My wife and I were mugged 3 times in a span of several years - twice in University City next to West Philadelphia and once in Queen Village, a nice area south of Society Hill. Muggings and other random acts of violence happen there in all areas at all times.

You know, I preface this by disclosing that I just moved to Michigan last year.
That being said, I do know and understand from general consensus that Jenny hasn't done all she should/could regarding the state's economy. BUT...I seem to notice that most everyone is holding her responsible for the economy as if she's been in office the last 50 years, when in fact she inherited a long history of problems that have lead Michigan to it's current economic situation. I understand that everyone hates her, but it seems to me she is the easy scapegoat for decades worth of bad decisions by other people than herself. And it's not like she has a majic wand she can waive over Michigan's checkbook and *poof!* it's all better...
Just a thought...

It's not just that. She can't say no to anybody, so she makes promises she can't keep. Many a left-wing activist has had a meeting with her, and gone away with the impression Granholm would go to the mat for the cause. And then somebody objects and she wilts.

For example, Michigan's health care system is a bizarre patch-work of fiefdoms it sucks up too much money, and uses more every year. Ontario's system isn't that great, but it costs much less than Michigan's and the costs are predictable. So we're losing jobs to them. Obvious solution:
Fix the health system.

Problem:
Jenny hates a fight. Cutting costs makes somebody lose money, and they'll fight. So her plan is to beg the feds for cash.

I'd have voted against her, but De Vos was the alternative. One of Michigan's big problems is the incompetence of our big businesses. The Germans make money, and their labor costs are much higher than ours, but GM swears up and down if only the UAW hadn't gotten a good contract decades ago the company would be printing money. And we're supposed to elect a CEO who ran a pyramid scheme effectively, but wouldn't even have gotten that job if his dad had not been on top of the pyramid?

This is partly true. It's also true every ******* in Lansing seems to think business-as-usual will work fine. Just look at the stupid fight about whether to raise taxes.

Morons:
Get a budget passed ASAP; fixing Michigan's other issues will take a lot of time.

Unfortunately for her, Granholm is the moron-in-chief.

Nick
