?where do i find the cheapest airfare to Detroit
From Tucson, AZ or even Phoenix, AZ (there are soooooo many places to search and I can't search them all). I did find a half-way decent price with American Airlines but want to get a Promotion Code to get it even cheaper and I cant seem to find the current Promo code for American Airlines. Then want to find a cheap weekly rental kitchenette in Macomb County, anyone know of any? Thanks

From Phoenix, chances are the best airlines will be Northwest or US Airways/America West since Detroit and Phoenix are their respective hubs. Cheapest rates will be through their websites.

Check orbitz or one of the other travel sites. No idea when you plan to fly but there are rates at low as $174 RT on Frontier. If you go to Southwest there are flights for $99 each way. I wouldn't expect to get anything less than $200.

I found a good deal at Priceline for airfare, hotel, rental car for $350 a person. Roundtrip. To Detroit from Las Vegas. I think it would cost more separately for all of them. Spirit airlines. Anyone know anything about that airline?

My family and friends have flown Spirit and vowed never to do it again. Here is what I am told you "get;"
1. They charge you extra to check your bags
2. You pay for any refreshments you get on the plane, 1$ for a cup of pop.
3. The seats are uncomfortable, worst leg room of the all the airlines.
4. The terminal area in Detroit is bad, not enough seating.
5. Flights are often late.
Make sure the flight you book is cheap enough to make up for all this
No one I know wants to fly them again.

We ended up going with USAir instead. Got a better package deal, a total of $850 round trip, air, hotel and car.
Thanks for the heads up on Spirit. I did kind of wonder about them, since I hadn't heard alot about them before.

Depends on where you are coming from. Air Tran has very reasonable flights to/from various cities.

I fly a lot. I have found that the best airlines are American, Delta and Continental. However I have had bad experiences with all three.
Northwest is one of the worst for timliness and cancelled flights. Their workers seemed to get really polite and friendly after the strike. I think that they realized that their airline (and therefore their jobs and pensions) are in big trouble and they need to try to make themselves an airline of preference. However friendly people do not help much if my flight is canceled and I miss an important meeting.
Spirit can be problematic. If you are on some of their main routes, you have a good chance of arriving on time or nearly so. Bring your own soda and only one bag or a carry on. Be ready to lose your bag if you check it. It may end up in a different airport, or disappear altogether. All airplanes are painfully uncomfortable to me (I have long legs) so Spirit is does not seem that much worse. Spirit is a good choice for regular commuter with no luggage who is on a budget and is traveling to major airports.
AirTran is worse than Spirit. Their service is terrible. My experience is that they are always late, rude, and if they do not get you to your connecting fight - too bad. You are on your own.
I was told that they had a different name not too long ago, then after a big accident gave them a bad reputation, they changed it. Someone must know whether that is true or not. I would not fly AirTran again for free.
For overseas flights, Virgin seems to be the best that I have encountered, but I do not fly overseas much.
