This is going to get really good. A shooting gallery, if you will.

Detroit police chief: Legal gun owners can deter crime

Detroit— If more citizens were armed, criminals would think twice about attacking them, Detroit Police Chief James Craig said Thursday.Urban police chiefs are typically in favor of gun control or reluctant to discuss the issue, but Craig on Thursday was candid about how he’s changed his mind.

Yep same thing the opponents said back in 2001 when the law was changed. Reality though is that none of the predicted rise in gun violence, street shoot-outs, and wild-west like situations happened. Quite the opposite actually.

Gun control only works in a world where every human being is civilized... We don't live in that world. There are animals out there they don't care about life. They don't care that you have kids at home. They want your goods. They will rob you no matter what. When good, civilized people own and carry guns, it makes the criminals think twice. If you put a robber in a room with 10 unarmed citizens, he'll be able to rob as many of them as he wants. Put one lawful gun owner in that room and the robber only robs once. I stand by Craig's opinion on this.

I don't condone violence, but if someone else wants to put my life in his cross-hairs so he can get my petty cash, I want to have the ability to save and protect myself.

If every party store clerk, gas station clerk, and bank teller were armed, I guarantee crime would decrease. I hear that some stores prohibit employees from carrying guns.

Retroit: some stores prohibit employees from carrying guns because it is MUCH cheaper to get robbed and lose an employee, than it is to get sued.

7-11 is one of them. So sad.

If I owned a store like that I would allow them to carry if they were properly permitted and took extra classes on handling their firearm. I think CCW classes are good to learn laws and the very basics of guns, but extra classes would be beneficial.
