Really wanted to thank everyone for their responses, I really appreciate it. Really backing up the stereotype of Midwestern hospitality haha.

So what I'm hearing is Royal Oak for the bar scene. Also I'm excited at all the trails you're suggesting, I need to be able to run or I can't function.

Royal Oak & Downtown/Midtown Detroit will have best twenty-something bar scene.

To a lesser extent Ferndale and Pontiac. (I can't speak to Pontiac much anymore since I haven't been down there in about 10 years as to the current bar/club scene.

Downtown Rochester & Birmingham have restaurants, shops, and a few bars but generally appeal to a somewhat older crowd. Rochester is more of a quieter meet-up with friends type of scene. Birmingham tends to be more upscale.

Chrysler has a decent gym on-campus. There are a lot of runners out and around the Rochester Hills area.

I think you'll have a great experience at Chrysler. It is a big company with a lot of good, hardworking people.

Greektown district in Detroit: this is Detroit only street that is filled with restaurants and bars. It gets packed on weekends and when local sports teams are playing.
Lies!!! (Just couldn't ignore that statement).

OP: I'm not super filmier with the Auburn Hills area but I heard Pontiac has a bar scene and there are a few things to do in Rochester. The two highlights of that area is going to be the Pistons and Great Lakes Crossings.

Hall Rd may be a bit of a drive from there but it has quite a bit of amenities.

Other options if you don't mind taking a little trip would be Birmingham, if your into shopping Somerset mall on 16 mile (Big Beaver), Detroit (downtown, Midtown, Greektown, Corktown, Mexicantown, Hamtramack, Riverwalk, Belle Isle, Dequindre Cut, ect. and especially the events), Royal Oak, Ann Arbor if you want to travel a bit further (someone else could help you out with the western suburbs or downriver), and Windsor if you get an enhanced license.

You could also check out the metroparks all over the area which also includes a lots of waterparks and a beach at the far end of east 16 mile.

Between your internship at Chrysler and hopefully you having a car, you should not be bored when you start to get settled in and meeting/ hanging out with people.

Atlanta is a pretty fun place don't get me wrong, but urban is not the word I would use to describe Atlanta, at all. Beautiful skyline though.
