It's interesting because I spend a lot of time on the California boards here and we are wanting out of here for the same reasons many Californians are wanting to move out of California...Hmmm...interesting.

I count my blessings every day. I'm not 'rich', but hubby and I are able to have a nice lifestyle. We don't have kids and are both college grads, so our situation is different from some who are leaving.

I pray that Michigan improves for all who do want to stay Oh man...It has to get better soon!

Kinda funny update:

DH had a phone conference interview with a company in Mississippi today. During the interview, DH asked about their local crime. The 3 people on the other end were saying, "Uh, you live in DETROIT and you're asking *us* about *our* crime?"

I have lived in Michigan all my life, my husband is from Cleveland. We are moving to Missiouri. Already have a home there and and soon as our oldest daughter graduates, May of 08 we are out of here. Taxes are too high for what you get. We have a 3 bedroom ranch on a city lot and pay almost $3,000 a year in taxes. We have a 3 bedroom home on 5 acres with a deck and pool and only paid $65,000 for it and taxes are $276 a year. Thats right a year. My husband is disabled so we can afford this and actually live alittle. We worked hard to get debt free and now it paid off. He is in his forties and I am in my thirties and we have the american dream as soon as we get to Missouri. The job market is slow down there too but we are fortunate because we don't have to worry about jobs, I stay home and take care of him and I am paid by the insurance company. But all in all it is cleaner, cheaper and the roads are not torn up down there. God Bless

Michigan's roads will be rebuilt (they are being rebuilt). However, the employment situation long-term is scary.

I have been interview with schools in the D.C. area. I've lived in different parts of Michigan for most of my life, but I really want to live in a big city as a post-college graduate. Beyond that, I can't find a teaching job here and I know I'm not alone.

I've been eying the San Jose area. Hence jumping on the forum here and there. Sure you have to pay 2 or 3 times for a house and the gas is more but what about the trade offs. I want to ride my MC year round. I'm going, eventually.

We would love to move out of MI but not necessarily because of hte economy. We are blessed to have a good paying job right now. We know that could change on a moments notice. I think we'll end up going no matter what in 3-5 years.

We want to move where the sun shines more, where we can be outside more (not big winter people here), wehre we can cook out year round, and just feel energized when we walk outdoors.

Default A place to think about

Why dont yall think about Albuquerque,New Mexico,Its a mid sized city with a small town feel,Albuquerque was voted #1 on the best cities to do business list,Albq, has alot going for them right now.The weather is the best I think it can get in a city, you can enjoy all 4 seasons here, and it only snows a couple times a year, but a couple days ago we had a record 20 inches in the city,no one has ever heard of that before here, thats crazy, plus the sun shines like 350 days a year here.Look up some info on it,I thinks its a good choice. The housing market is going up but cheap compared to most of the U.S.,and property taxes are low,we dont have any natural disasters here.

My friend just visited me who lives in Albuquerque I'm considering it, but really, I need to be by the ocean. My husband and I's business would do very well in So. Cal.

Hey everyone.....

My husband and I currently live in the Brighton/Howell area. Our business is doing HORRIBLE >>> We have to get out. It is do or die right now. We were trying to hold on to our home, but I don't think it is possible. Pretty soon, making the payment is going to be very difficult. I don't know how or if we are going to be able to sell it. It is about 2400 sq.ft. on 1.5 acres ~

There isn't much work here in Michigan at all. We are looking at NC or Georgia.....as we know people there who may be able to offer assistance? I don't know. I'm really hoping and praying my husband will be able to find a good construction job there.

Blessings,
forgiven
