Hello All--

My boyfriend and I are looking to move out of his smaller apartment into a 2 bedroom 2 bath house near Royal Oak, Ferndale, etc. We are looking to rent. Ideally we would love to stay under 1,500 a month, and we have a dog. We definitely need to find a bigger place to live with our life moving forward. I have been doing a lot of searching online, but I definitely feel like I need someone to help me find a place. I would LOVE to be within walking distance to Woodward Ave.

Any help is appreciated!

Most of Ferndale east of Woodward (1/2 mile North/South of 9 Mile) will fit that bill. Rent a single family home- backyard/dog friendly for approx $1K

There are numerous homes for rent in Royal Oak, Ferndale, and Berkley in your price range. Most 1000 sq. ft bungalows rent between $1000 - $1400 per month. Typically 3BD / 1-1.5 bath, 1950's era bungalows.

Some rent through a property manager or real estate firm, but many are rent-by-owner not through any formal agency. Check out some of the real estate firms - Century 21 or KW, but your best bet is to use Craigslist. Most of the rent-by-owner properties just go through Craigslist.

There is high demand for rentals in this area, they turn-over often, but also rent very quickly. Pretty much if you see something you like, you need to take action when it posts.

Finding a dog-friendly property can be slightly more challenging as some landlords say no dogs, but read the listing to determine.
