I just heard something on CNN or MSNBC about "New Orleans is the worst for corruption and violent crimes">... They had that situation before Katrina, looks like nothing has changed. Remember during those flooded times? there were cops holed up in a motel? and treating ppl like dirt? the cops were armed, looting, stealing, etc.

Yeah, I don't think that Hall Rd compares to anything with culture. Maybe in a billion years. It is a congested disaster with people constantly not knowing where they are going and cutting in and out to get to the store they saw at the last minute. It's ridiculous. Partridge Creek Mall is nice. I went there one day as it started to snow (wasn't supposed to-husband didn't even have a coat)and it was just beautiful. But-cold.

It may be dangerous, but there is some allure to that. And aside from that; Growth through Adversity.

Detroit has not been the most dangerous city in America since the early Eighties!!! The highest crime rate in the country is in Miami. The murder capital of the USA is Baltimore, MD -- last time I checked it was Washington DC. The murder capital of the whole world, with runners-up, are:

India is the murder capital of the world

In terms of number of murders worldwide, India is followed by Russia (28,904), Colombia (26,539), South Africa (21,995), Mexico (13,829) and the United States (12,658).
See, our fair country is now in 6th place. Detroit herself, that swampy, rat-infested wonderland, is not even on the Top Ten list anymore. The outrage triggered -- you should pardon the expression -- by the wholesale stray-bullet killings and carjackings in the metro area in the late '70s and early '80s led many people to lock up their guns if not pitch them in the river. We remain only so-so as far as crime rates go nationally, despite having an atrociously understaffed police force in the downtown area.

Your facts are incorrect. Baltimore's homicide rate has actually gone down and is at it lowest point in over 30 years. Detroit does not posts it's rates until the end of the year. As of today, I believe New Orleans is now taking that honor. Also, DC is not anywhere near the tops in terms of homicides.

Detroit will probably be #2 or #3 at the end of the year for crime, with new orleans definitely being #1 per capita.

I said "last time I checked," didn't I? Several years ago it won the crown for Murder Capital of the World.
