interesting...as is Detroit....the decay is very obvious on google earth and whats veryinteresting is alter road...the border of Detroit and the upscale densly populated subburbs of the Grosse pointes

There's a huge empty building up around the junction of 94 and 96. Several stories high, rusted out and broken windows all over the place. Gives me the willies every time I'm up there visiting.

i can go to Boston and find just as many, most cities have urban decay esp old cities

True -- just about all if not all the big old cities have decaying sections and many of the newer cities have at least some.

I guess it's cheaper to just build new buildings rather than keep up the old ones, but the loss of jobs makes it a lot worse.

That's amazing to see. The first photo is probably the worst. Detroit has a lot to offer, and if they only cleaned up the city, it would be that much better.

A lot of cities have that, although maybe not as much. Detroit can be restored, but it'll take years and a lot of work.

Mayor Young and Kilpatrick and city council are squarely to blame for this mess.
30 years after the riots and still no progress.

If Dr King were alive today he would be appalled at these photos.
