What do you want them to do, beg for water? Should there be peddlers all over downtown begging for a sip? Do you want several thousand people lined up at the public library for the drinking fountain? Should they start digging wells and dig right through the gas and water lines running beneath their feet? Should they start busting fire hydrants to get a drink? Should they start breaking into homes and filling up jugs in other people's sinks? Should they start raiding gas stations for water bottles? Or maybe they should go drink polluted water from the River Rouge, get sick, and pack the hospitals?

Hmmm. I guess you're right. They will find a place to get water.

Or maybe you'd just prefer they all drop dead? I mean, it's just the poor, they're not economically valuable.

Frist......water wells are drilled now....not "dug".

I guess if they are really to stupid to figure out how to fill water containers....maybe they do have no value.

Or, we could face the truth.......they are just to lazy.

Again, where do you expect 350,000 people to fill up water jugs without straining the water infrastructure or overcrowding?

They will fine a place.

Where is not my problem......paying their bills is not my problem.

BTW....how would filling jugs "strain the system" any more than if they turned on a tap at home.

Do you really see these people as that stupid???

I don't.

Anyone who really feels bad for folks without running water in their home could always haul some water for them.....or, pay their bill.

Honestly, one way or another it looks like you will be paying for their bill.

They're not stupid, its just that when you take away the personal water access of thousands homes and concentrate available water in just a few nodes (gas stations, public facilities, etc.), things are going to get really crowded really quick. Those nodes won't have the capacity to handle the kind of traffic that a shut off water system will cause. Thousands will have to come back every day to fill multiple jugs for drinking, bathing, washing, etc., and it will strain the facilities that provide the water.

Why would it take more water.....I would think they would use less if they had to carry it???

BTW....I will not be paying for it at all.

What are you talking about? I don't think we're on the same page here. I was saying that, if the water was shut down to nonpayers, and they went to gas stations and public facilities for water, those facilities would get overcrowded, because there are far less of those facilities than private homes.

And I'm going to make the assumption that if you share utilities with these people, and are paying your water bill, you will end up paying for them.

You "Pay" for the convenience of having the water "Delivered", Or you pay with your time, going to get it, waiting in line, bringing it back.

There is nothing that does not say the gas station is not charging you to get the water from there tap.

In Alaska, there are "Dry" cabins, No running water to them. People there take there jugs to get them filled at a Pay Taps (Coin Op), or the One or two "Free" ones. (Free to them, AK DOT pays for the pump, power etc) , Or other water sources.
