House Music Scene in Detroit
Hi Everyone,
Just moved to Detroit from Toronto up in Cold Country Canada. I am looking to get fully embedded into the House Music scene of Detroit and the suburbs. I would love to hear any suggestions, and if anyone wants to join me (27 yo male) to go out for a drink and get acquainted with the city, I would love the company. I only have family (sister) here and no one to hang out with yet!
Cheers,
Harinda

LOLA'S is the spot on Friday nights...located in Harmonie Park in Detroit, Mi off of gratiot and broadway. If you love real House Music (Norm Talley) you'll love this place.

Detroit's only HOUSE MUSIC place
Yup, I am a dj that enjoys house music and I do it every saturday night at White Star night club's lounge in Hamtramk, MI. I am djing downstairs in the lounge where I play a mix of tribal, minimal, techno, electro and probably any type of house. Upstairs we have a dj who plays euro dance. So you guys are all welcome to come. I hope I see some new faces soon.

My friend used to go to these illegal raves in Detroit. Every week the people who run them find a different abandoned building. They break into it and throw a rave all night. Apparently, they are packed. Also, it's been said that they pay off a cop or two to keep it on the down-low, so they don't get shut down. Either way, they're supposed to be crazy. Don't ask me how to find about them, cuz I don't know. But it's something to look into if you like techno/trance/house music.

The house music and Techno scene is still going strong in Detroit. Though I must inform hsxeric that he underground rave scene died by like 2000 and at latest 2001.
For information on regular events and special events check out [v6.0] Detroit Luv :: filled with good and bad that mortals never know. Also, facebook has been a real asset in keeping up with the party's if your a friend of someone involved in the music scene. Also, each year, Memorial weekend, there is the DEMF (Detroit Electronic Music Festival). Outside of the yearly automotive show, the DEMF is the only other event that brings international visitors to Detroit. These international music fans enthusiastically flock to Detroit during Memorial weekend to party and see the city that they dj's they admire and respect come from.
