I recently learned on Zillow while house searching that Detroit has some great school almost equal to Troy school. So it is possible for parents to get their kids Troy level education in Detroit. They got 8/10 school from elementary to high school. Why don't more parents opt for this option?? I understand some schools students need to test in but if your kid isn't smart enough to test in to 8/10 school then that kid won't do good in 10/10 school because you brought a house there.

Top notch school 9/10 and 8/10 area: 3 Elementary School and 1 high school
Bates Academy, Chrysler, Thirkell Elementary
Renaissance High School

Then you have several schools that are 7/10 which is still above national average & equal or better than suburbian school
Marthin Luther King Jr. Education center Academy
Ross-Hill Academy-Emenetary
Tawheed Center of Detroit school

Then we have 6 more schools that are 6/10 equal to (better than) warren con school district
Burton, Cass Tech, Davision, Detroit Edison, University prep, Wright Charles

Bottom line, people living in Detroit have the option to give their kids top notch education

Thank you for posting this information, this is good news. A number of those schools you listed are charter schools, so some of the charters are doing a good job. I think Bates Academy is still a DPS school, and Chrysler Elementary is a DPS school in the Lafayette Park neighborhood. A good elementary school could be another draw/selling point for that neighborhood.

What about something like the Kalamazoo Promise for Detroit Public Schools? Basically it is a initiative where private donors pledge to pay 65% to 100% of college tuition and fees for each Kalamazoo high school graduate based on how many years the student attended Kalamazoo public schools.

Since parents know that their child's college education would be paid for, maybe they would be more interested in getting involved and motivating their children to excel and graduate. According to Wikipedia, "Since the Kalamazoo Promise was announced, enrollment in the school district has grown by 16%, test scores have improved, and a greater proportion of high-school graduates are attending college."
