Blacks in Livonia (Detroit, Lansing, Redford: apartment, hotel, transfer)

The government has taken away our right of association long ago. I don't care nor do I disagree that some white people are bad too, but that has nothing to do with wanting to live with my own kind. White's are the only people accused of racism, yet are the least racist. I have no more to give to undeserving people, which get free handouts just because of their skin color. Just leave us alone.

I Love Livonia... I lived there for 11 years until eight months ago. We are not a bunch of white racist what so ever. Most of us are accepting, but its hard for some us to be so accepting when more and more people move from Detroit and bring crime with them. If people in Livonia do the same thing their ancestors did in Detroit and move; Livonia will surley become an extention of Detroits ghetto. Look at what has happend to many parts of redford.
Livonia is continuolsy getting worse, according to my grandmother. She lived there when she was growing up and said it was a beautiful supburb and "was the place to be." When she got married to my grandfather they moved to Detroit in a nice house. When they came back from a trip up north with my two year old mother(at the time) they came home to tanks in the streets and the national guard running threw their back yard. They didn't stay for long. They left their house and the last time they came back to detroit was when they cheaply sold their property. After that they moved to the western suburbs. First plymouth, than brighton, than Pinkney. They tell me stories how Detroit was a great safe city. As well as how Livonia is continueing getting worse.
City officials should biuld a huge wall down inkster wall and contain the D so it doesnt spread and repeat history.

Don't get me wrong Livonia is still a beautiful Suburb just not as it once was..Kind of like Detroit.

Unfortunately, its happening in almost every suburb around Detroit. They're leaving and bringing the crime and decay with them. Nothing looks as nice as it used to.

If you look at Detroit historically (and this can be backed up by books and newspaper stories ) this just didn't start recently . It began way back in the 1920's when a small portion of Jewish population basically owned Detroit . The were called the Purple Gang . I believe the Jewish population
started the migration from Detroit to the suburbs years and years ago . I believe it have been because they didn't want to share the neighborhoods with people that were moving in from the south to work in the auto factories . And to this day , this still goes on . Detroit > Oak Park >Southfield > and currently in West Bloomfield . I remember a series of articles in one of the Detroit newspapers maybe 5 or so years ago on the migration of people from Detroit(especially Jewish) and why they left . Here's an interesting story on Detroit's Purple Gang , they must have been pretty brutal for Al Capone to be afraid of them .

Oh I forgot to mention that it's a Federal offense to deny someone of color or nationality to purchase/rent a house or apartment . Last year a couple of apartment complexes in Roseville I think were fined hundreds of thousands of dollars for telling black people(federal agents) that there were no vacancies , while renting apartments to white ( federal agents) Just wanted to state that fact

Whats this got to do with this subject? I think you have to look at the history of Detroit 1st . I mention the Jewish population because I believe it started with them . They mention in many places on the net that Jews would be the only ones that sold their businesses to black people in Detroit , that Jews were sympathetic of black peoples rights , but Jews basically migrated to the growing suburbs for better business for their retail businesses , and they basically didn't want to live in the same neighborhoods . So it basically was a cultural thing , which it really isn't much different today . One culture doesn't trust the other etc . You see Greek Orthodox Catholics in a small area of Warren , Hmong in another area of Warren , at one time many Polish in Hamtramck , Chaldeans which is basically people from many nations from the Middle East that have been here since the mid 1930's and speak a common language(farsi) . So I have to believe its a cultural mistrust , birds of a feather flock together sort of thing . And lets not exclude black people either , I believe they feel more comfortable amongst black people . Having lived in Detroit for 30 of my 59 years , I truely believe that the ones moving out of Detroit want what other people want , safer neighborhoods , better schools for their children . And I believe its the duty of people moving to neighborhhoods that may not have the majority of people of their culture living in it , to keep their property groomed , join crime watch groups , and anything they could do to improve that neighborhood . And that goes for everyone , I've seen some pretty shabby streets/houses owned by my race .

Ahh the age old tools of propaganda, racism and good old bull****! Let me first say that I was a resident of Detroit in the 1960's, prior to and after the Great Riots. My family first lived on Owen street in an apartment off Woodward Ave. followed by 28th Street near Michigan Ave. Holmur Street during the time of the riots and several other addresses including the Boston Edison Historical district. My parents were homeowners my late mother was a teacher in the Detroit public Schools my father worked at Chrysler before becoming a truck owner/operator for a large international company. My late father was a native of Detroit whose family dated back decades there. My parents had owned several homes prior to leaving Detroit. I am a graduate of Cody High school which was less than 5% black when I enrolled. I witnessed the "white flight" from the city to the suburbs before and after the riots and watched the decline and decay of the City due to changing economic times, and strides to eliminate segregation and improve the quality of education and employment for blacks and other minorities. I engaged in Civil Rights activities such as marching with MLK in downtown Detroit, and attending Black Power meetings with my mother while still a babe in a stroller. I attended a middle school (Region 5 middle school) that participated in the school busing trials of the 1970's. Most if not all of these changes had to do with desegregation efforts which were designed to offer equal work, education and housing opportunities to blacks and other minorities in the City. It always had to do with the sharing of economic wealth which the City rather enjoyed from the 1940's to early 1980's. Whites in Michigan have always wanted to maintain exclusivity from nonwhite ethnic groups and also to control the wealth and it's distribution in the State. This has also been the crux of the decline of the economic success of the State. To this day, Michigan remains one of the most segregated states in the country. Under the guise of racism the true and unrelenting cause of decline remains the effort to maintain economic desparity between a select few priveledged Jews of a serious bourgeois mentality which seeks to remain seperated from both whites of "lower ranking" classes, including Italian, Polish certain Jews and even Russian as well as non-whites. Racism is the tool utilised to promote this end. The decline of the city has littlle to do with blacks and more to do with poverty which is the result of decades of discrimination, disenfranchisement and other "divide and conquer" techniques. Anything that is said to the contrary is ficticious and defamatory and certainly not of any scholarly or intellectual significance.
