Blacks in Livonia (Detroit, Dearborn, Canton: real estate, homes, public school)

Sounds to me like you're implying that you "KNOW" that "blacks are not welcome in Livonia" because of the insight you gained from your wife and her father. While "blacks not being welcome in Livonia" may have been true years ago, I don't see it now.

I dont see why any white neighborhoods would want blacks to move in??

Is being "politically correct" worth having an unsafe neighborhood for your children, drugs on the streets, rampant crime, low quality schools, run-down buildings, neglected properties, depreciated home worth???

Who would want Detroit to move into their town?

I'm not saying 100% of blacks are this way. But this is what happens when they start coming. Look at any city in America with majority blacks, then look at the crime levels and education system in that area. It's terrible.

Until blacks start disciplining their children and act more civilly, this will be my opinion.

For the whites that think its "great" to be diverse....why won't you take your family and move to Detroit??? Just wondering...

Actually, what happens is that paranoid racists like you flee when a black family with the same values you have moves into your neighborhood for the same reasons you moved there and pays the going rate for a house. When that starts to happen, depending on how many paranoid racists there are in the neighborhood, more people start to sell, the prices take a nose-dive and then one of two things happen: Either the neighborhood becomes less desirable to people of ALL races who would have otherwise paid a premium to live there and legitimate "undesirables" who could not have afforded to live there before you bailed out start to move in, or the people who fled before start to rent their houses to scumbags because they can't sell them.

That's how a neighborhood starts to go downhill. A neighborhood doesn't turn "majority black" in a couple years unless the previous "majority" sells out. Literally and figuratively.

The first ones who move into an unsegregated neighborhood invariably have in my experience. And in my experience have been more desirable as neighbors than 10-20 percent of the tenured residents.

But go ahead, keep moving toward Lansing and driving farther and farther to work.

When we look at who is moving to which cities, the issue should not be race/ethnicity. That is only skin-deep. I think that looking at the political beliefs of people moving into an area are far more important since it will have a much greater impact on that area than skin color.

For example, in recent decades, the population of Oakland County has been increasing and that of Wayne County has been decreasing. Oakland County had also been heavily Republican while Wayne County is heavily Democrat. Because of the prominent Republican/conservative views in Oakland County, it had lower taxes, was tougher on crime, less regulation, which made it a good place to move and do business. With Democrats running Wayen County, they tend to be softer on crime, and increase taxes and regulation, making it less desirable to live there. Just look at the mess that is Detroit. The place has been run exclusively by Democrats for decades and look at the results.

This brings me around to my point. The problem is that Democrats of all colors are moving deeper into Oakland County and bringing Democrat votes with them. In turn, the same problems that made people leave Wayne County are going to start happening in Oakland County, regardless of the skin color of the residents. It is much better for the future of a city to have a lot of black conservatives move in than a lot of white liberals because they way the residents vote will determine that area's future.

Ever heard about black Detroit cops "racially profiling" when they stop a white guy in an all black neighborhood at 8 Mile and Wyoming because their experience tells them he's probably looking for a ***** or dope? No? Why not? Because it doesn't happen?

It doesn't mean racial profiling doesn't happen.

As I said in my post, I grew up in a very small town in SW Michigan that was easily 99% white. Everyone knew that people who looked different got a hard time from the cops. It doesn't help anyone to pretend that racism doesn't still exist.

I've gained the exact same insight from my wife (a Livonia resident for 30 years) and her mother (who still lives there). I do hope you're right that attitudes are changing.
