I am one of the people who have been pulled over many times in Livonia for being black. I worked there at comerica and usually ended work very late at night. I hate driving through Livonia trying to get home, many times I or we (when we carpooled) over and not told why we were pulled over, just asked for license, registration and Insurance. Ran checks on us and let us go. I would say honestly in the year and half I worked out there, I was pulled over for some reason over 75 times and I never once received a ticket, because I was doing nothing wrong. Last summe I rode with a neighbor and she was pulled over on the way to walmart and on the way back. I found a new job because I was sick of being pulled over. It really made no since what so ever. I avoid Livonia, Redford and Dearborn as much as possible.

No offense, but usually they CANT see whos driving at night due to it being dark out. That is, until they pull you over. Until you have proof, you cant state you were pulled over just for being black.

What...Livonia does not have street lights....lol? Do an experiment yourself. Drive under a street light at night and see if you can tell the race or gender of the driver.

Its amazing that clear pattern here. Why do so many people defend the racism....grant deferrence to it.....or deny the claims from blacks, yet, there stories of horror born from the experience with blacks in Detroit they never defend, never grant deferrence to and never deny?

Wow, if I were being harassed like that, I would have made a complaint, got a copy of the officers' video, went to the newspapers, carried a tape recorder and/or video camera after about the 60th unwarranted stop....

Pulled over 75 times for no reason and you got no ticket. I'm not calling you a liar, but I sure don't believe you. It would appear to be more hyperbole in an attempt to perpetuate certain false stereotypes, rationalize victim status in contacts with the police, etc. 75 stops and no tickets huh? I always find it humerous when someone implies that the police conduct that many illegal stops but are so ethical that they didn't write any unwarranted tickets in an attempt to cover their behinds for all those illegal stops, OR imply that the police must have had no reason to stop them the one or two times they were stopped because they got no ticket. You know, SOME people would complain to SOMEONE after 75 illegal stops like that. A devious bad cop would have written you some tickets for fail to signal, speed 5 over, etc. But those dastardly guys who stopped you were evil enough to conduct unconstitutional siezures but not evil enough to cover their aweful deeds with ONE ticket in almost 100 stops. Uh huh.

Normally you sound fairly intelligent in your posts, but by trying to lend any credibility to someone who says they were stopped once a week for no reason over a year and a half by one police department after leaving work, and on top of that got no tickets, you really painted yourself into a corner. You've proven that your objectivity is nil.

For a black person that does not sound too strange. Although I too doubt 75 times in a year…..I have been the victim of racial profiling enough to know that the base of her claim is very believable, when one gets past the embellishment. In my life, I developed a severe complex from such incidents. I have been stopped or detained by police more times than I can remember, in my teens and early 20’s. It was not 75 times in a year…..but I was extremely paranoid from these incidents. As a white person…..you likely cannot relate to this……but for blacks….especially black males…..it’s a big problem and concern.

I was simply astonished, honestly, that I went about 5 years in Minneapolis and its suburbs, after moving out of Michississippi, without ever being stopped by the police.

Maybe because its overplayed? Maybe because I *know* a lil bit about the profession? Infact, Eastpointe PD has had a 99% unfounded claim when it comes to complaints of "racial profiling". Ever since they added in car cameras, its saved thier butts numerous times. Car goes by with tinted dark windows, booming stereo and just went through a red light. "Stopped me because Im black!" Actually, you couldnt even see who was driving. "The cop called me a n!gger!" They review the tapes, and the officer was nothing BUT professional and said no such word. When you cry wolf every minute, and over play it and you have NO proof of the claim other then the fact that you are black and got pulled over, the integrity and chances to even remotely take you serious are out the window. If the cop was black, then no one would be making the silly statements. Just gotta give them the return "You're only giving ME a hard time because im white." Usually ends it right there.

I seem to recall various cities proving to Wendel Anthony and friends that the vast majority of "DWB" claims were BS. In fact, I can't recall ANY that made it to the news as cases of stops where the suburban police had no reason for the stop other than the race of the driver.

There are certain people who wouldn't have a job if they couldn't find racial profiling in every traffic stop of a black person where the driver claims he did nothing to warrant a stop, or who can somehow "find the truth" in claim of police harrassment that is outrageous, unbelievable and not credible on its face, not to mention after an impartial investigation. I think they do more to stoke racial animosity than the white Livonia cops who stopped the prior poster once a week for a year and a half on her way home from work.
