I use to live in michigan 18 years ago. We moved to california and now that I have children we are thinking to move back to Michigan. Yes I know Michigan isn't what it use to be but it is a better place to raise a family then California.
I own a Retail Jewelry store in California. Does anyone know how the jewelry stores are doing in Michigan? Especially with gold prices so high. Is the slow economy effecting jewelry sales? Should I look for another business? Any suggesstions? Thanks. |

All of the jewelry stores that we know of that are near us closed in the last three years (all three of them).
the fancy stores at Somerset mall seem to be doing very well. I think it depends on what area you are in. They probably do Ok in Ann Arbor and East Lansing selling engagement rings. That need never goes away. |

Michigan is probably not the best location for any business catering to discretionary purchases.
