I'm due to move out of my current address on about two weeks time because my landlord wants to sell.

I've been renting on the Eastside in an area that seems notorious but actually is not that bad. I was probably brought up in rougher areas that saw their share of decline.

Can anyone recommend somewhere in cycling range of the Renaissance Center (7 to 10 miles) where I can ren month by month for under $600? I do have a thin credit file however, because I'm a legal alien who came to America for love, but my job is reasonably well-paid.

All I have is a bicycle, a suitcase of clothes and an English accent (native). I need to rent somewhere reliable and fast until I can get my wife over to Detroit, which could take a good few months.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

You could try the North End or Hamtramck. Maybe even Southwest Detroit/Mexicantown.

The Park Avenue House at the corner of Park Avenue and Montcalm Street right in Downtown Detroit.

2305 Park Ave, Detroit, MI

rent starts at $475 or something like that, month-to-month

The Live Midtown website shows the "the Commodore","The Wayne Court"," the Renaud", "the Toraine" , "the Barlum" apartment buildings have month-to-month for $650 or less.

The West Hancock and San Antonio Apartments have 6-month rentals at your price point

The problem I'm having is finding them by bull or filtering for them on websites.

I've found far too many scams too:

1. Where a woman with an email like anna234 @propertysomething767 .com posts something too good to be true, only to find that they want $38 for me to prechecked, preferably paid on s monthly basis ...
2. The one where someone sends you a picture of a property with a different archetectural style to one at that address with adjacent buildings that simply are not built that close.
3. The one where someone refuses to tell you where a propert is until you play up front for the deposit and first months rent!

Do these people think we can't use google or consult the blight map?

I'll have a look at those locations and places.

Thanks,

Hey, ya know they won't stop doing it until people stop falling for it. There's plenty of people who don't spend the time to research or have internet ineptitude.
