Job Training in Detroit area
My wife has been offered a job here in the Charlotte, NC area, but she will have to go to Farmington Hills area for a two weeks of training during the first two weeks of February. She may have to return to Mich. again later for more training. Currently, I (husband) am unemployed and want to go with her for the training period and she wants me to go. The company will pay for her travel expenses, hotel, etc. and we will pay for mine. Problem is, my wife is trying to get over a bad cold she has had for a week now. By looking on the Internet at the weather that is in the Detroit area this week, I think the last place she should be going is there. This company will only have this offer available to her for two business days. The starting salary for this job is great ($64,000), but I just don't want her to get sick there.....you folks are having some "real" winter weather there right now.
Now, the "kicker" is this, last Oct. we moved from Denver, CO to here to get away from the snow/cold there.
Any suggestions???

I wouldn't pass up the opportunity just because it's cold outside!! Temperature has nothing to do with the cold virus (despite the name) although cold weather can make an illness feel less pleasant.
Bring hat, scarf, gloves, warm coat. Don't spend more time outside than you have to. No biggie!!

We DO understand, BUT her immune system is very low when it comes to getting colds. If she gets a cold up there and unable to go to work for a day or two, then what will happen......she will be on that 90 probationary period. Like I said in the starting Thread, she is battling a cold right now. Another thing, if she gets around someone up there who has a cold, most likely she will pick it up. Being up there with a cold right now, can definitely be worse than be here with a cold. The air there is much colder than here. But, I'm thinking now that what ever decision she makes, I will support here. So, if she takes the job......Michigan here we come!!

Look on the internet sites. From what I understand they have completely debunked the idea that cold weather causes colds/flu or makes them worse. Although staying inside with the widows closed all the time may help them to spread.
