Hello. I want to go to Windsor and walk around for several hours. I live downtown close to the D/W Tunnel. That's easy enough. Where should I park when I get over there? Also, are there any neighborhoods that I should be on the lookout for?

Finally, are there any natural wonder areas on that side of the border not too far from Detroit? I might be willing to venture a little farther if there is something pretty to see. It would still have to be something I could do in a day though.

For a natural area, is Point Pelee too far from Windsor for you? We used to have fun at the little beach on the east side of the peninsula, although it was a bit tricky to climb over a choked part of some fallen trees to get to the open sandy section. Bring extra sunscreen, if you know what I mean. It might not even be accessible anymore, haven't visited since the late 1990's after moving south.

As far as Windsor itself goes, just pay attention, follow the signs, and enjoy.

Old Walkerville is a trendy historic area just east of DT, about 15 blocks down Wyandotte St. E. Lots of great restaurants, shops an excellent brewery (Walkerville Brewery) and Hiram Walker Distilleries ( offering great tasting tours).

There is also the Little Italy district on Erie Street.

North 42, how is the Ottawa street corridor?

For a day trip, I would also recommend Point Pelee.

Ottawa St. is doing ok, they just spent millions putting in a new streetscape with wide sidewalks and trees, and there are quite a few new businesses as well.
Little Italy is a great neighbourhood with so many italian shops, restaurants and cafes with outdoor patios, some patios even have wood burning pizza ovens in them, yum!

I liked Point Pelee. Loved that tip! Stood right on the last exposed rock. Also liked some of the beaches on the east side, though I don't know how safe it would be to swim in there.
