Part of me feels stupid for asking this since I make the drive into Detroit a few times a month, but usually in the afternoon...

Am I correct in assuming that rush hour is from about 7 to 9? How much extra time should be allotted? If I have to be downtown, how long will it take me from Baldwin Road (exit 84)? One day I have to be there at 9am and another day it is 8am.

Thanks a bunch!

it's at it's worst from 8-9, but 75 is always going to be busy. Where in Detroit are you headed?

Generally, if you're going down 75, then 7-9 is about the right time.

Right now, the most problematic area is around 75 and 13 Mile due to construction. Typically, the commute (from Baldwin) is around 30-35 minutes, but with the construction it's now up to 40-50 minutes.

I rarely drive during rush hour but north I-75 is always a pretty busy stretch. Coming all the way from the Great Lakes mall I'll say give yourself an extra half hour to an hour just to be safe. You never know what's going on from day to day, especially during rush hour. And then there is the construction zone the above poster talked about, that had me stuck in traffic last Sunday so I could only imagine peak hours.

Thanks. I make the trip a few dozen times a year for various reasons, but normally between noon and four, so I avoid traffic. (Although there are more lane closures then... Last week it took me twenty minutes to go two miles where they close the lane at 14 mile.)

Back on the 8th I had to be there at 9am and I gave myself an extra hour. I was there in 35 minutes, so I was twiddling my thumbs for an hour. But, I know a lot of people were on vacation (it was the week after the 4th of July), so I know it would take longer on a typical day.

Anyway, an extra 30-45 minutes should work then. Thanks a bunch.
