I have a question specific to DTE Energy theatre. Some friends and I are going out to the Van Halen show this Friday (don't laugh) and staying at a nearby hotel so we don't have to fight traffic home (and have a few cocktails during the show). We were planning on taking an Uber to the show, but were wondering if there would be an issue with having an Uber pick us up from there with all of the post-concert traffic leaving. Has anyone ever taken a taxi/Uber to or from a DTE show?

Hi, I was wondering about this as well. How did it turn it for you? Or does anyone have any info on this?

Getting to DTE using Uber is no problem. They'll drop you off right in the parking lot.

Pickup is a little trickier. We talked to the driver who picked us up and they're not allowed to enter the parking lot after a show. So you have to walk down the dirt road out of DTE and then call for an Uber at a business that's right across the street. We were able to get picked up with no problems and it beat sitting in the parking lot fighting traffic for 30 minutes. There are a lot of other people doing the same thing, so it may take a little while to get a driver.

Also Surge Pricing may be in effect then also.

After Many big events let out everyone wants a Uber, there software may put Surge Pricing into effect to get more driver to go online.

a fyi: Many Uber drivers are near big events, but stay offline @ 1st waiting for Surge Pricing to trigger, then they go online.

Yep.

Even when factoring in price surges, Uber's almost always worth it for me when going to an event like this. It's easy enough to split the cost with friends and you don't have to worry about the hassle of driving, parking and limited beverage intake.

Geez one would think these days event venues like that would make it easier and even encourage folks to get home safely.

If you go online and search the rules about this it says you can be dropped off in the parking lot. Your driver can wait in the "parents parking" for those driving without a ticket. At the end of the show most of the entrances are out going only but there is 1 drive that the uber driver can enter (I'm sorry I cant remember exactly which drive it was).
