Default quonset huts on conner and gratiot

I lived in the quonset hut project near the City Airport from about 1950 to 1955. I would like to hear from anyone who also lived there or who knows a little history on that project. Our hut was on Corbett st., the road that lead to what was then a Hudson Motor Car Plant.

I'm to young to know anything about it but curious if it had anything to do with I-94 being built through that area? My grandparents lived on Camden (few blocks over) around that time. My grandfather was retired and liked to walk over and watch the freeway being built. He worked at Hudson as an engineer for awhile.
