Aww, SuziSu, we are all guilty of skimming through messages sometimes. It doesn't make one an airhead.

Slow's BBQ is amazing..service wasn't great, but the food quickley made up for it! Red Coat Tavern is ALWAYS on point with their gourmet burgers and really anything on the menu is delicious.

exactly - Took my wife to slows for the first time Sunday. Service was crap. Rushed, too busy, inpaitent servers....... but that Pulled Pork Sandwich was so fricken good!.

Wings were iffy but the meat is fantastic.

How is FoxTown Grille? My Wife and I made a deal to eat only in Detroit for a while (Were from Canada but 30 min from the border).

What else do you recommend for Fine Dining? We've done Sweet Georgia Browns, Marios, Andiamos on the River, ......

If the high end places you mention are in your budget, I'd recommend the Rattlesnake on Atwater. If you can afford it, the food is really good. I prefer it to Sweet Georgia Brown and it is less conventional than Andiamos. Then there is of course the Coach Insignia on the top floor of the Ren Cen - good steaks and a great view. I have been meaning to go to two other places, the Whitney and Cuisine, both in the New Center area, that seem really good. Speaking of Cuisine, I've heard good stuff about La Cuisine on your side of the river - have you been there? I'm a French food buff and it is tough to find around here.

You know what though...... I just have to mention...... you can't beat Detroit and and it's surrounding areas for the plethera of good eating, but just as much as you have great restaurants.... I would be just as happy shopping for my dinner at Papa Joe's on Tenkein and Rochester Rd there in Rochester. What beats being able to shop for your extremely well made dinner while having a glass of wine and searching through a great selection of cheeses and desserts to accompany your dinner. That place is amazing!

Not sure which rest. your speaking of but I believe it's in Tech. Ive been there and yes it was good, although not great. I've heard and read about Rattlesnake on Atwater. Ill hopefully go in the next few weeks. We've been to all the suburban steak houses (Ruths Chris, Mortons, Shulas, Capital Grille, .....).

any other steak suggestions?

The Rochester Chop House has always been one of my favorite steakhouses ANYWHERE. The outstanding food, phenomenal service and cozy ambiance is always consistant, and a pleasant change from the corporate restaurants. Be sure to check out the Raw Bar up front, too. I sorta hate spilling the beans on Vince and his crew, as I've always felt that the Chop is a highly underrated gem, held close to the vest by those in the immediate area and in the know. They always treat you as if you're the most important table in the room, no matter if it's your first visit, or if you're a frequent guest. The Rochester Chop house is located on Main St (Rochester Rd), in the middle of downtown Rochester, and reservations are highly recommended.
