I believe you are correct. I've got to check that place out my self.
Speaking of new finds, I recently went to a relatively new place called Harbor House near the Wayne Co. hall of justice. Suffice to say I was very pleasantly surprised by the good food, decent service and great prices (at least during lunch). Their seafood gumbo is excellent. As the name implies it is mostly seafood focused but they have burgers and such as well. |

Checker's, I do believe that is correct! Perhaps I was really hungry that day, but the burger , chili, and fries really hit the spot. Thanks much.

Slows......
I finally ate at slows bbq on Mich. last weekend. The place looked great. I was alone so I sat at the bar. The bartender was not ever good, not helpful and seemed rushed. I ordered 1/2 ribs and 1/2 pulled pork. The taste was excellent. The ribs were somewhat cold but it was so packed I didnt bother complaining. The Mac and cheese was outstanding. OVerall I'd give it a 7/10 but I will surely try it again. |

Eastside Mario's is good but the service is either outstanding or terrible. My dad and I joke about it.
I love their wedding soup, but when I have it, I taste it all night long. Ughh. Antonio's/Roman Village is good too, but Antonio's prices have gone up considerably. I used to be able to go there with someone, two drinks, two soups and a medium pizza for about $13. That same thing would be $20+ now. |

Slow's BBQ for the best BBQ, Southern Fires for Soul Food, and definitely Foxtown Grille for Italian, Andiamo's is okay as well. Vicente's has Cuban on lock!

LaShish was awesome...we're still looking for the ultimate replacement. One of the places we go to and have for almost 20 years is Sahara in St. Clair Shores on Haper south of 9 Mile road. They used to be on Mack in Detroit many many years ago. There food is very good, service is great.
