Smile moving to selfridge

in the Coast guard, with orders to detroit thinking of living in new baltimore area. I have kids so schools are impotant for us. we don't know the area but we heard many good things about it reading here and from other people. We would like to get to know people and also to see what hotels are close to selfridge. We appreciate all info we can get.

Google Maps

there is a map of the area with hotels...R59 is a really large street. It has major shopping, resteraunts etc etc...There is a hotel at the end of 59 (Best Western-concord inn). that looks like a decent place...it is close to selfridge and you can just head the other way for anything you might need...
We live off 26 mile. If you zoom in on the map you will see it...
I have a friend who goes to Selfridge a lot. She tells me that all service families can shop there and get a major discount.... Her hubby is in the army.

my husband has also relocated our family secondary to a new job at Selfridge ... we drove the entire perimeter of selfridge in search of the perfect home & b/c we wanted a family oriented area we decided on Grosse Pointe. We have an offer on a home & if it doesnt go thru - then we will just keep looking in the GP areas. I cant imagine living anywhere else, really. The road M-59, which many will have to travel on seemed NUTTY for travel times. I just didnt care too much for New Baltimore but - the commute would probaby be reasonable.
