Everybody please get back on topic. The OP is looking for safe places, not videos of fights.

There are some serious Detroit-haters out there and most of them live in the burbs of Detroit. Yet, Detroiters always blame the national press. That being said, the area by Wayne State is perfectly fine to live in. Common sense is a must in any city, but your daughter can find a safe place to live there. Just make sure you check the place out before commiting to a move.

If you need meds you can go to the 24 hour CVS across from the AA Musuem and a stone's throw from the Science Center and DIA. If you knew the area....well it's been proved that you don't. So you conviently ignore all the other stuff and go for the horn. Wow....convenient. I think you are simply being proved wrong over and over. It's probably a good idea to take you hysteria elsewhere on the boards. I think that "....don't believe the hype...." is perfect for you. Last edited by Slappy san; 02-22-2008 at 06:26 AM. |

Have you or nephews been murdered on your way to your cars? I mean...it's sooooo dangerous down there after all. You've been proven wrong at every turn dealing with the topic. I hope the OP is smart enough to write you off in favor of people who actually know the area. |

This thread really has me wanting to move back down there. I remember how great it is to be able to walk to museums, restaurants, grocery stores (4 of em), and be part of a vibrant community. I thought it might make me feel old since I'm over 30, but a friend of mine who works at the DIA moved down there and told me a lot of her collegues and other workers are also living in the area instead of commuting to the suburbs. I've been in the warrendale area because my dad was ill, it's sooo boring(just like the suburbs) and he's doing better.
To the OP, I'm not sure if you have been following this, but not only do I think your daughter would be happy and safe, I think I will be too. I definitely stand my recommendation. |
