LOL! I found #73 to be funny and thought I would share. It's meant to be funny, in case that isn't immediatley obvious to some.



GENTRIFICATION:

In general, white people love situations where they can’t lose. While this does account for the majority of their situations, perhaps the safest bet a white person can make is to buy a house in an up-and-coming neighborhood.

White people like to live in these neighborhoods because they get credibility and respect from other white people for living in a more “authentic” neighborhood where they are exposed to “true culture” every day. So whenever their friends mention their home in the suburbs or richer urban area, these people can say “oh, it’s so boring out there, so fake. In our neighborhood, things are just more real.” This superiority is important as white people jockey for position in their circle of friends.

They are like a modern day Lewis and Clark, except instead of searching for the ocean, they are searching for old properties to renovate.
In a few years, if more white people start moving in, these initial trailblazers will sell their property for triple what they paid and move into an ultramodern home.

Credibility or money, they can’t lose!

When one of these white people tell you where they live, you should say “whoa, it’s pretty rough down there. I don’t think I could live there.” This will make them feel even better about their credibility and status as neighborhood pioneers.

Im sick of hearing this kind of bull-****. I just moved to Bed-Stuy in Brooklyn from upstate NY. I didn't move to bed-stuy to be a pioneer or so I could show my rich white friends how cool and tough I am. I moved here because it was cheap compared to the rest of NYC. Although In Elmira where I used to live my rent was 225$ a month, now its $600. I am from a working white family. I Paid for my own college education. Pretty much paid for all my own expenses from the day I got my first job when I was 16. So, stop stereotyping me as a rich white yuppie that moved to this neighborhood so I could get respect and be cool. I moved here to escape my small town and make a better life for myself. Just so happened that this neighborhood had the cheapest rent, that I could actually afford. Please don't bunch me in with all the hipsters. Thank You.

I do have a sense of humor. I could tell that you were attempting to be funny. I didn't find it funny though. I don't know if the person who posted this is white or black, but I would call you out on it being bull**** either way. I'm so sick of people making broad assumptions about races and spreading it around, no matter what race it's coming from or directed towards.

MEOW! He/she (the OP) was just trying to have a little fun, not start an argument! I'm white, and it didn't offend me at all. Though, I like to laugh at myself often, so maybe I don't count!
