Just an FYI--think twice if you buy new construction. There are a TON of projects in metro Detroit with only a few houses built. If you move into one of them, it may be years (like 8-10) before the development is totally built out. This means construction traffic and noise for years, not to mention your streets will be torn up. (They'll resurface them after everything is built, but that can be a long time.)

I think buying a "used" house is usually a better deal anyway. You know what type of neighborhood you're moving into. You tend to get more house for the money.

As far as 3 vs 4 bedrooms, I can tell you from experience that it will be a LOT harder to resell a 3BR house than a 4BR one. You should consider these things, because you never know when you might have to sell because of a job transfer, etc.

Wink -canton-

Canton would be a good choice, housing, schools, just in general Canton has a lot to offer. Specially with the market right now, you can get a great deal on a house. Some things that you need to think before you go into a brand new house, sprinkler system, sod, landscaping, deck, all of these things will cost you a lot of money, now if you buy a house that is about 5 to 10 years old, you'll have all of that stuff done plus the foundation has settle by now. We also lived in Westland for a couple of years prio but because of the school system in Westland we moved, I would just stay away from there. We lived in Canton for about 13 years, loved it very much, but because of the economy and jobs we were forced to sell and move out of state, we have been out of Michigan for about 3 months now. If we ever go back, it will be Canton for sure. Good luck.............
