We are going to be in Detroit area for Thanksgiving. We will be staying in Auburn Hills. Was wondering if there is a restaurant in the area that anyone can recommend for Thanksgiving dinner. Thinking late afternoon or early evening. There will be four of us (two adults and two kids). Any ideas would be appreciated?

Mega pricey and a bit of a drive, but I think the atmosphere of the Whitney in Detroit would be awesome for thanksgiving. It might be special enough to be worth the cost. .

Here are some other suggestions:

If they're going down to the Whitney on the day that the Thanksgiving Day Parade and the Lion's game are both happening, then they'd be better off making a complete day of it and add in at least some parade viewing.

Kruse & Muer was suggested - there's three within easy distance of Auburn Hills, but I'd pick either the one in downtown Rochester or the one out at Adams and Walton in Rochester Hills over the one in Lake Orion.

With the Chrysler Tech Center and all of the auto suppliers around, one would think that in AH there would be plenty of upscale restaurants to cater to the executive crowd. But I've worked in AH, and can't name top notch restaurant within city limits.

There's Victoria's Delights in downtown Oxford, a small upscale restaurant that I've been to and liked. It's located about 15 minutes up M-24. They're open on Thanksgiving, with three different seating times, but the place might fill up quick, and it looks like reservations are required.

My brother one year recommended that the extended family do Thanksgiving at the Holly Hotel, a restaurant in a converted Victorian house in downtown Holly, which is about 20 minutes up I-75. Ain't never been there, they tell me it's nice.

Is the chop house still in Downtown Rochester? It has a nice atmosphere and the food was quite good.

I've never been to a Kruse and Muer restaurant, including the two(?!) in downtown Rochester. Maybe if I see my brother, I'll ask him...he is/used to be the well-to-do gastronome of the family.
