Post Best Place to Personal Train in Northern Suburbs?

I am looking for a place that has personal trainers. I don't want anyone coming to my house - I want to go to a gym to workout with a knowledgeable, friendly personal trainer. Looking in the northern suburbs - Troy, West Bloomfield, Birmingham area. Any suggestions??

I'd look at Lifetime Fitness. They have a club in Troy I believe.

This is strictly my opinion, but I think you'd get better training if you looked at a smaller studio. Places like Lifetime, Bally's, Powerhouse all offer personal training but it can leave a little to be desired. The training at these places is not always personal and experienced.

It's actually pretty easy to get certified so that means anybody can decide "Hey I can get paid for working out" which is of course the wrong attitude.

You'd find the best on one one within a studio. They're almost always run by a trainer that has been thru the ropes and opened their own place so they can do their own thing and have learned what not to do. Most of them also offer classes such as boxing, yoga, spinning, etc...

Google it in your area or ask around. Word of mouth is huge for trainers.

Good luck and congrats on wanting to get fit!

From what I hear, theboysmom is right. I have not personally worked with a personal trainer, but one of my co-workers recently began working out at a new studio in Birmingham called Coach Me Fit. She says it is a private training studio, and that her trainer is one of the nicest people she has ever met, but she still gets incredible workouts. She almost had me convinced to try it out! I like to walk for the most part, however. Kudos on starting the healthy lifestyle!
