Default Memorial Day activities in Detroit

I live down in Toledo, and my parents are coming to visit over Memorial Day weekend. We've pretty much done everything that Toledo offers, so we want to venture north to Detroit. Do any of you know of certain activities or events over Memorial Day weekend (especially on Saturday) that are planned? Or is there something in Detroit that is offered all the time that would be fun to do for an afternoon?

Thanks!

I know that there are your Memorial Day parades in about every suburb. I am not sure what goes on in Downtown Detroit if that is what you are asking. I do not think that Downtown does a lot for Memorial Day. If you are interested in just visiting Downtown Detroit, May is a great time to do so, not to hot, and not to cold. The International Riverwalk, or Casinos may interest you, if you are into that sort of thing. And Downtown has many great restaurants.

I believe the city of Dearborn has the largest and oldest continuous Memorial Day Parade in the USA. While in Dearborn, go the visit the Henry Ford Museum. They have special Memorial Day events planned, including re-enactment groups. In the morning, on the way up Telegraph stop at the cemetary in Brownstown Twp. Every year there is a special tribute by Canadian veterns complete with bagpipes to honor Canadian servicemen injured in WWI and brought to the US for treatment. Maybe I will see you there.
