Default Satellite Dish in Winter

For those of you that have satellite service (dish or driectv), how is the service during the winter months.

I am from Texas and my directv goes out during rain storms or heavy clouds, so I can only imagine what would happen in Michigan.

Additionally, what is the local cable company for Oak Park, MI and what are the best internet providers?

Thanks

I have had both Dish Network and Direct TV and I have never had major problems with the signal. The Cable companies at least in Michigan will charge you very high prices, and the cable is still not as good as Dish or Direct Tv. The best deal in town that I have found is at&t's triple bundle. You get Home phone, internet, and TV (with Dish Network) for $99. At least that is what it was a few months ago.

Comcast or Wide Open West (sucks). I think Cavalier is another one but I don't anyone that has it.

Comcast is spotty...I remember as a kid it was called Continental Cablevision and then later MediaOne. Now it's comcast.

I believe that Brighthouse Networks is also in some of the suburbs (Farmington Hills, Novi) many of the other suburbs are Comcast. I would avoid cable, their prices get out of control after awhile.

We have Wide OPen West and it is pretty good. It is vary fast, farily consistent (i.e. functioning) and repairs get mde quickly. Customer service is only slightly less horrendous than Comcast. You get to a human being a lot faster with WOW than we ever did with Comcast.

It is my belief that TV is mostly cr#p, so the cable portion of the service is not real meaninful. We have it just to get the fast internet.
We do enjoy some of the history channel and other semi educational shows (How stuff is made, Deadliest Catch), and a few HGTV shows on occasions. Otherwise, we could pass on cable with no regrets. Dish service seems only slightly better, and you will sometimes lose service according to our neighbors who have it. However I would not trade DSL or cable internet service for anything.

I cannot stand satellite service. I lose signal all the time. It was so inconsistent and that's in FL with damn near perfect weather all year round. I'd hate to see the type of reception you'd receive in the Winter time.
