Default My Take

Ya know I wish most of you would stop bickering and just find some freaking solutions. People are not moving to southeastern michigan. They are moving away. Jobs are lacking and there is really no incentive to live in the area. There is no serious mass transportation, no serious walkable towns, expect for Royal Oak.. I mean the area is a joke. One of the most segregated regions in the country. Everyone outside of detroit, is married to detroit, the is the bottom line, detroit needs to be fixed, it helps everyone in the long run, the fix up and development of the city of detroit, and the ratty cities close to it like Highland Park, help the rest of the area. FIND SOME SOLUTIONS. Don't add more problems.

I live in the Madison Heights, and nearly my whole family is scattered throughout the area, from good to bad cities.

Please for the love of god stop the petty arguements and find some real solutions.

I agree with you, that is why I plan on moving back in a couple of months, because I am tired of my family calling me and complaining and talking about moving, not talking about solutions for the city, and not really trying to do either of the two!! Then you have people on here like Ms. Maxine3, that is not stupid or anything, just ignorant to the facts and seems to want to stay that way... For whatever GOD for-saken reason.. I am coming back, because the way I remember it is totally different than the way it is now... But I believe and know that it is and will get better.... You are one of the positive ones that I have been telling my friends and family about that I know are still up there and care about the city and the state!! You are right and I apologize for the part I have played in the argument!! I just hate it when people (black or white) play the race cards... It has no bearing on the real problem!! Local and State Politics!! They need to give Kwame the Boot and then work their way up!! Finish unfinished projects and plans that have been into play for too long... Re-open schools, give continuing education and workshops for teachers, so they can stay up on our everchanging world to better equip them to teach our children.. Run the gangbangers and drug dealers out of the city... Give a message to the WHOLE STATE, " STRAIGHTEN UP or SHIP OUT our STATE " If you are not apart of the postive progress, you need to go elsewhere!! GOOD NIGHT Beadster, it was a pleasure to meet you, so late at night!! LOL

After 9 posts gone I'd like to request everyone to stay on topic and stop making personal trips.

Default Homeless dogs

I am glad that you included information about the stray dogs roaming the streets in the early morning hours.
I drive Greenfield and I noticed them crossing Greenfield in the morning. It seems that most have collars but no tags on them. Where do they stay during the day as I would not mind feeding them.

Perhaps if the dog population were not so undercounted by the census, Detroit's population figures wouldn't be so bad. No one would bother to see what percentage were white dogs or black or brown or spotted. One day race will be as important to people as it is to dogs--- a non issue.

Detroit's problems are crime - the hugh list of abandoned properties - pollution and a poor economy about to get poorer.

Linnel that's great you love dogs- I have a wildlife area for abandoned possums and such an hour from where I live. The dogs probably need to be spayed though.

I've read a lot of these threads now and have heard a thousand opinions. I see that Detroit is more unfavored by people around the country than I originally thought. Years ago I was in Europe and even the people there had nothing good to say about the Big "D". I always thought that Detroit was for tough people that don't take any crap. Like I say....after reading a thousand opinions, I may be convinced that the Big "D" will fade to black...pardon the pun! ........Maybe there will be a movie someday....."ESCAPE FROM DETROIT"

Awesome! I was looking at real estate online and saw all the homes in Detroit going for pennies. I called my wife and daughter into the room and we laughed at the prices. I work with the homeless and figure I can get work anywhere, but with some homes going for $5000, we could work fasdt food and still make it. It would be nice to be freed of a mortgage, and I do have friends that live in Ohio and Wisconsin, so that would be nice. I always thought taking advanage of a depressed location and helping it rebuild would be interesting and worthwhile. But after reading the passages of BrotherBillX (awesome name, a real intellectual and revolutionary) I see why no one wants to live in Detoit. We'll stay here and pay out the nose for our mortage just outside of Seattle and let you morons work out your little play on your own. Wow, you really do get what you pay for. And good luck with those Lions.

I moved here from the Seattle area and painting the city and the region with that brush is simplistic at best. Good luck.

I lived in Huntington, WV for a year and ran for my life! I was born in Detroit in 1953 and stayed there until I got married in 91...then we bought a farm in Ohio. I would still be there, but hubby had a heart attack and we wanted a nice sized town with a lot to do...and we decided on Huntington. In less than a year I knew it was a little Detroit in the making. We ran! I'm now outside of Ashland where I go walking in the middle of the night and never have a problem. It's rural, up on a hill and everyone watches out for each other. Thank God some places like this still exist!
