As far as 'major cities' go, New Orleans is the only one that could compare. I'm talking pre-Katrina too. I never understood why they talked about New Orleans like it was Rome or something. I feel bad for what happened to the people. But come on, that place was a COMPLETE $HITHOLE before Katrina even hit there. Say any different is crazy.

Russia ain't to far off from being 3rd world. Along with alot of eastern europe. They ain't exactly warm places.

zzzz we have this same debate in the Miami thread, everyone thinks their city is third world but i'll admit.. detroit is pretty scary  If any city was going to be third world, it would be detroit!

Yeah Suprisely, according to the 2007 census, Detroit gain some of its population back, and is now at 916,000. In 2006, it was around 870-880,000. I guess Detroit is attempting to make a comeback.
