Marion Barry is my 1st choice.

William J. Jefferson (D-La.) would be my #2 choice if Barry doesn't want to move.

Maybe George W. can move to Detroit after his term and run.

Detroit will elect anyone.

They were dumb enough to elect Kilpatrick for his second term....even after they knew of his scandalous ways and using public funds to buy goodies for himself

Detroit will never elect anyone that will clean up the city...

I think that they should keep Ken Cockrel in his place, and see how he plays out. I believe he will and would make a good mayor. If I lived in the City of Detroit I would vote for either Ken Cockrel or my second choice would be Freeman Hendrix, he seems like a good honest person that wanted to do good when Detroit re-elected Kilpatrick.

The reason why I don't like Dave Bing is because he is a suburbanite, I think that you should at least live in the city that you would be mayor of. I don't know his background to much but I know that he has lived in the suburbs (Franklin) for a long time and that is where he lives currently. He is planning to move to "The Watermark" on the Detroit River that is under construction when he begins his campaign.

At some point this territoriality has to end in metro Detroit - both with the suburbanites and the urbanites. It's so backwards. We're all in this together.

I thought Roger Penske did what had to be done for the Super Bowl. He paid attention to every miniscule detail and made the city shine as best he could.

I think Dave Bing would bring that same attention to detail and pragmatic vision. At some point, people have to realize that the leadership is failing across the board. Other industrial cities like Pittsburgh, Chicago, and Cleveland have turned into 21st century cities. It's time for new blood. No Coleman Young anything. No one with ties to Kilpatrick.

I think Dave Bing would make a great mayor. I think that he is realy for the city of Detroit. He seems to be loyal and dedicated look at his business. I have not yet heard of Bing's company laying off employees, that says alot especially in todays economy.

Smile Ken Cockrel for Mayor

I think Ken Cockrel is the best choice for Mayor. His knowledge of City Government and his cool and calm composure is what what Detroit needs now.

He can also surround himself with great and knowledgible people. You don't have to know everything, just have got to have people that can be of help to him and our city. If you surround yourself with smart and good people, they will make you look good.

He is a true family man and that is the image that Detroit should build on with safe streets, good schools and good city services.

If a City does not have a good police department to enforce laws and protect the citizens then why would anyone want to move to Detroit??

I just wonder why after all these years Dave Bing is now just stepping up to the plate to help our city? Why not run for Mayor of Franklin where he lives.......

As a West Michigan resident I would say Dave Bing would bring a sense of entrepreneurism and business-sense to government in Detroit.
