Wow & Comcast are both digital so if you're looking for phone & internet service as well as cable this is what you should do: Start out with Comcast first because they'll give you a great deal to start with. Then after a year when the deal is up take your equipment back to the service center and tell them you got a better deal with WOW. This always works for me. They'll put you into another plan because they don't want to lose you. But I must stress don't call, go in to the service center. WOW is pretty good but would be a settlement compared to Comcast's service. Especially since Comcast will be the first to migrate to Fios.

Don't know if this is an option for you, but I'm in the downriver area and just switched to AT&T UVerse for tv, phone and internet.
They install a "gateway" that makes all 3 work wirelessly.
I must say, the difference in TV reception is incredible. I had not realized how bad my Comcast picture was. Also, I've been blaming my TV for the awful sound quality... especially the low volume. It was so low on several channels that even cranking the volume number up to 50, it was hard to hear. I wondered if I was losing my hearing! Well, it wasn't the TV.... it was Comcast!
The internet speed is really fast.
The only negative ot strange part of the deal is that the gateway/DVR combo does not have a clock or any display screen indicating the channel you're watching. Just lights. So I had to set up a clock near the main television.
Anyway, if that's an option for you, I do recommend it (except for the missing clock!)
Julia

SInce moving to apt. bldgs. few yrs. ago, I've had to contend with getting the cable that is already wired to the existing stuff at that site. I had ComCast for yrs. and complained about the numerous outtages, problems, ghosting of picture, weird low/loud sound when switching channels. So now I have to get WOW in Ferndale at this bldg. AND ITS JUST AS BAD.

Dontcha just hate it when they say that phoney, text about "thank you for choosing..." As if we had a choice in the monopoly of 2 or 3 companies to pick from, i.e. electric, gas. Who else we gonna call? duh.
We have to keep calling for repair, 'send a boot signal' lots of various troubles, then argue with a young snippet about 'how about giving me some rebate?" since you always demand and get payments on time!?! gimme some perk for my hours of taking off work, missing pay, etc. waiting for repairmen that DONT BOTHER to call when not gonna show!
Eeewww. I'm sweating and getting p.o.'d just talking about it!

The only problem was that so few people used them in our area they had torebuild some of their lines and systems. This took a little while (a few days), but their service since then has always been very prompt. They even replaced the line twice when contractors cut itduring construction work on our house (quick and no charge)
When talking to Comcast ppl, at least they lived in my geo. area. WHen talking to cus.serv.reps for WOW, they are in Colorado!!! I live in Michigan. That is not what i call friendly, or helpful service. They have no idea of blackouts, weather conditions, and how many trucks are down or not on the road. I HATE BOTH OF THEM.
At first the WOW bill was $5 or so cheaper, but the problems of ghosting, shifting, fading of picture soon followed and they always ALWAYS had an excuse (blaming my TVs) or the cords.

I must say Comcast had incredible internet service. Blazing fast. Wow is nowhere near as fast but I did not pay for their high end internet package. But we did move and location always seems to be an issue around here. I had friends in Novi that had horrible comcast internet and might has well have been on dial-up.

Comcast has much beter on-demand too.

TV picture about the same for me. HD looks great maybe even slightly better the comcast.

Price is much better with Wow. I was constantly getting ripped off with comcast. My bill was pushing 200 a month for their triple play and one movie channel. Everytime I would drop something there were more fees.

Probably go back to them in a year or two. Sometimes it's better to drop them and go back.

If the satellite companies had a better on-demand I would go with them (its mostly for our son). I think the picture is better. And that crud Comcast always spouts about Michigan weather is BS. Believe it or not my picture would always get worse with Comcast when the weather turned bad. Too weird.

So far the only complaint I have with Wow (other then me being too cheap to pay for faster internet) is probably their equipment. But I had that problem with Comcast. Must be refurbished or severely used.

Comcast is fast, has more features but was expensive to me.

Wow is nowhere near as fast for internet, on-demand is not that great, but I save lots of money.

I must confess I did drop the phone service when we switched and just use my cell now. Comcast Voip was like talking on a walkie talkie in a hurricane. The two other voips we have had were the same.
FYI: I had to remind WOW that I was, indeed, paying for the FASTEST internet speed. and when she checked, it was NOT set for that, so they upgraded it, and immediately it showed a difference, however, they never gave me any rebate, or did jackspit about the mos. of slow speed hookup, NOTHING but "i'm sorry about that, my bad". WTF is that? What jr. high school are these people coming from? Special Ed class for the phone-impaired?!?

I called WOW the other day to change some unwanted services, like the $3 TV Guide, and some channels like STRZ, those movies are on basic or I already saw all of them! ANyways, the lady tells me "I see you got the internet fastest-speed of 6, and actually we dont have that anymore".
So that means, that they have slowed it down EVEN MORE!!! yuck. I have to wait (at least) 15-25 seconds for my MSN home page to come up when I first click on 'internet browser'. And I dont have much junk or cookies, files, all that to slow it down. Its just SoooSlow.

I like it to record then watch to FF the commercials only! Its not worth the On Demand part, they only have snippets of shows, like mostly everything is 6 min. of the topic or show listed! WTF? thats a gyp. Also if you're a night-owl, fuggettaboudit. Nothing on but PAID PROGRAMMING after 2a.m.
I am retired, and my hours are still the night shift. BUt I need NetFlix for that, watch some good foreign or independent movie.

I had ComCast for 10yrs. then had to have WOW lving in apt. bldg. in Ferndale. Its basically the same B.S. "oh, the weather is the villian, didja pay your bill?"... same old crap, justa different day.
(P.S.= they DO seem to let you slide when bill balance is not up to date though). Comcast used to get on you a few days after the due date. Then when you need service, they didn't even 'retro' or adjust the bill for NO SERVICE!
they got us by the short hairs! like all big monopoly companies.
"thank you for choosing -----" yeah, right like we had a choice of someone else to give me my electricity, water, or tv service.

Maybe you should possibly look into the AT&T pkg the previous poster wrote of. I think I may when I come back to MI.

What are prices running for cable now?

I liked WOW over Comcast, but Comcast did have some more updated features. My husband hated how long it took to channel surf because we have TiVo.
