It's evident that population of one of the once candidate for greatest cities in america is declining and it think these are the reasons. A major shift of jobs and retail to the suburbs. Lack of new housing. A school district with a low graduation rate. Increased crime. And other social problems. These however can be overcame if Cockrel and whowever wants to be mayor did these... Compete for newly emerging industries that will re employ inner city families. Lower the city taxes. Have committees work in major efforts to revitalize neighborhoods effected the worst. Continue reattracting major corporations to the cities downtown and retail to the community. Rebuild commercial streets to attract small businesses and major restaurants. Rubuild neighborhoods. Work to improve detroit's better neighborhoods. Hire hundreds more police officers that can respond to emergencies in a timely manner. Have the police work mainly around school campuses and within neighborhoods. Fund schools much higher in strong efforts to imporve the quality of education for the children of the city. And revive the city's once great reputation and in time people will want to return. If I were mayor that's how I would do it.
