Chrysler Closing Trenton Plants?
This morning while driving and talking on the telephone (I know bad idea), I heard in the background a news report about Chrysler closing one of their Trenton Plants now, and probably closing the one that they just build in 2011. Does anyone know anything about this?
Amazing that they would close the plant that they just built. It seems like it has not been open for even a year. There were all kinds of promises about how that plant would revitalize the downriver area when it was being planned (they wanted the governement to give them a major street and let them close it and build the plant there). I guess they have not learned to look ahead much. Certainly they could have seen that they would not need this new plant and saved the money. I do no know what they spent on it, but it must have been tens of millions if not hundreds.

I have not heard anything of these closings, it sure would be a disaster for that area, and brand new plant empty.
I hope that the Fiat-Chrysler deal works out and that the company can be saved as a whole.

I heard on the Canadian news that Chrysler asked the union to take concession to help Chrysler from going into bankruptcy and save their jobs and the union said it will do no such thing. If this is true, then the union people defiantly don’t deserve their jobs. Why don't union memebers ever say they will work for $1/hour? That might just help win Americans back in buying cars from them.

Union autoworkers cannot work for a $1/hour, they need to pay their morgage, for for gasoline, pay their bills, put food on the table, etc, etc.
I understand where your coming from but I understand the union's thoughts also.

It's not going to hurt them to work for one day, so they can at least to set an example. They tout about the CEO's should do it, which they also have to pay stuff like the things you mention as well for their standard of living.
I have known many union members over the past years who can afford all these items, a house in Macomb/Shelby township as well cottage up north, Season tickets to the Lions game, four wheelers, a boat, snowmobiles, Car, Camper and go on vacation with their families out of state and still put food on the table.
So putting into words and saying "well the CEO's have ton's of money they can afford to do it" is not an excuse. Even some of the executive members are going bankrupt.
