I don't see how it would be possible. There is NOTHING there...no jobs, nothing. It isn't just Detroit, it is the entire state. Plus people are generally going southward, and understandably so - better weather, more jobs, etc.

Detroit would somehow have to attract major major corporations or companies, but I just don't see that happening either.

I mostly agree with Tiger Beer above. People really don't have any reason to want to live in Detroit. I knew a few people who bought some of the riverfront condos downtown, but they still work in the suburbs, because jobs are so scarce in the city.

I also heard that many people put down a payment on the GM Ren Shore condos that were supposed to rise just east of the RenCen, but that never happend and their down payment was returned.....oh, well...maybe when the credit crisis ends, so will the construction will pick back up. But sadly, by that time many people will already be uninterested.
