If you search the sex offender list for zip code 48091, you'll get about 100 names. That zip code is in the 9 mile and Ryan, 9 Mile and Dequindre area. My old zip code of 48093 turns up only about 20 names and that is the 11 mile corridor between Van Dyke and Hoover. The area between 11 Mile and 14 Mile hasn't been hit as hard as the area between 8 and 10 mile.
A lot of people on here will feel you have to be as far away from Detroit as possible. If Warren doesn't do it for you, I highly recommend St Clair Shores. Very low crime anywhere in the city, good schools, good middle class nieghborhood, and close to Warren.

I never said that you have to be as far away from Detroit as possible, I think that very untrue for many communities. Look at the Grosse Pointes for example, they are next to Detroit, and I would be more than happy to live there. Commute wise, they are just not right for me.

It seems like people enjoy sitting in hours and hours worth of traffic since everyone lives north and travels south in the morning for work and travel north to spend more hours and hours in traffic when work time is over. Then when it's Construction season starts(which is every other two months ) the times gets worse. If you get off at work around 4:00 P.M. expect to be home at 6:30 P.M. or 7:00 P.M. Too bad the tri-counties do not have commuter rails or subway systems to ease that traffic.
If you can handle that, then try to find somewhere in the Utica Community School district. I also hear the Troy School District is good.

Fraser would be a good area...one of the best school districts, very low crime and excellent city services.

Warren north of 696 is fine. Also check out Troy, it borders Warren to the northwest.

When I first moved here a year ago with my boys, I chose Troy strictly because of the school district's reputation. I must say it is definitely living up to it.

You'll also pay a lot more for Troy, and part of Troy is in the Warren Consolidated district.

If your job is taking you to Warren then it is likely you are relocating because of a job at TACOM. There was a post here from some one in the same situation last month except she could chose TACOM or the Redstone Arsenal (Huntsville AL) she chose Huntsville.
