In metro Detroit, the city limits ARE the boondocks.
Most jobs and amenities are in Oakland County.

Why would anyone want to ever move to Detroit--or anywhere in MI for that matter? The boonies ARE the city limits!! Heck, go where the people are.

Sherwood Forest/Indian Village
Sherwood Forest, Indian Village, Palmer Woods sound very good,
to invest in, if not live in.
My friend and I are non-US residents who were trying to contact
real estate agents about foreclosures in these areas. Even when
we tell them we plan to pay cash, there is no reply. Not one
email or phone reply.
A lot of investors such as ourselves have helped restore a lot of
historic areas in Latin America in recent years. It is too bad
this probably won't happen in Detroit - for whatever reason.
The important thing, though, is whether US people want
non-residents buying US foreclosures.
