How safe is the area south of Michigan Avenue and west of Grand Blvd?
In other words, over by the former Michigan Central Station? I would like to take a photo of this building before someone gets serious about tearing it down.
This would be during daylight hours, naturally.

Day time is ok..It hasn't become ESCAPE FROM DETROIT bad...yet...the ideal is getting to the top and photographing the city...absolutely spectacular!
We plan on doing a photo "get" secession next Sunday--early in the morning to avoid the remote possibility of getting people who do not "live" in the area in the pix.
Night would be good too...if you move through the city like you own it chances are slim you would be approached by ANYONE...

I've been over there before, it may be safe for a while, I'm kind of skeptical about at night. I also noticed new houses being built there to rid the area of the urdan praries. If I were to be over in that area I would probably have to go further down to Corktown, which may not be as exciting since there tearing down ole tiger stadium.

Someone else has a website with photos from the interior, as well as from the roof. My bad knee wouldn't let me climb to the top, so I'll have to enjoy his photos and yours. I hope you will post them here.

That would be great, and thanks for the offer, but we have only about a week to spend visiting the in-laws and taking some day trips. I'm hoping to squeeze in a day to go to MC Station. I'm also meeting my long-lost cousin who I haven't seen since 1970, and his wife. They're driving up to Flint from Kokomo to spend a couple of days visiting us.
We'll probably be back every couple of years, though. One of my dream vacations is to drive around the Great Lakes and photograph the 122 lighthouses.
