Default rochester hills Vs. rochester

From what I have read rochester is more affluent than rochester hills. but what i am wondering is If i am interested in rochester hills... can my daughter go to a highschool other than Avondale? We are more middle class than upper middle class..so maybe RH and avondale schools would work out fine...we have a daughter in jr high/highschool..and one that needs a community college to start.. RH homes seem to be more in our price range...any opinions?

I do not know if its true but I was told that Rochester's property taxes are higher than Rochester Hills, so that is also something to consider. I like Rochester Hills a lot and have friends that live there and are very happy with their decision to live there.
Is the entire Rochester Hills area on Avondale schools? I do not think so ( but I may be wrong), Rochester is a very small area.

Comparing thesetwo places is asking whether an apple is better than a shoe. It depends on what you want. RH is basically suburban sprawl. It is pretty, but mostly McMansionsin subdivisions. Rochester is an old fashioned small town. You will find a range of income levels in both places. The wealthiest people that I know all live in RH. In making your decision, it depends on what type of atmosphere you want. As far as wealthiness, you can choose to live in enclaves of all middle and up income levels in either place.

The answer to the schools is no. Some of my friends who live in RH, their kids attend Cranbrook, but if they went to public school, they would go to Rochester Adams High

No. Most of Rochester Hills is on Rochester Community Schools.

Of the 3 high schools....Adams is the best (Silver Medal school) followed by Stoney Creek (decent and newer) and lastly is RHS (older, not the best)...

City of Rochester + NE Rochester Hills goes to Stoney Creek

Most of South and Central Rochester Hills goes to RHS (a tiny portion of the SW goes to Avondale)

Most of Western and Northern RH goes to Adams.

Hope that helps.

Source: Used to live there, went to RHS.
