Looking for some insider knowledge of Canton
Likely moving to Canton and am curious about a couple of things I've seen: what's the story on the huge set power lines that run between Cherry Hill and Saltz Road? Seems dangerous to have these backing to so many homes. They look like they feed to a grid area on the east side of Canton. Also, there is a landfill in Canton, possibly two? What have been the environmental effects of these? Do both effect home values in those areas? Thanks for any feedback, it's much appreciated.

Landfills have been around for many years in many locations. No need to be worried about their health hazards. Your water is not coming from the ground in Canton anyway.
As far as power lines, I don't worry about those either.
Of course, either one of these things could be considered eye-sores. That would be a very subjective thing. Personally I wouldn't want a power line view, but think the landfill hills at least add a little character to an otherwise boring SE MI topography.

While I agree to some extent, the giant ones you see in/near belleville (I dont know for sure) When heading down 275 look very unnatural and quite an eyesore. It seems they could have made some nice rolling hills, if space permitted of course.
And to the OP: My parents said always stay north of Cherry Hill, and Ford Rd if you can, but thats getting out of Canton

This applies more so in Westland than it does in Canton. In Canton, I think I'd say stay north of Palmer. I believe Ann Arbor Road is the northern border of Canton, although it may be Joy.
There's a relatively new little "downtownish" type area coming up around Cherry Hill and Denton I believe. It's a little far out from the main downtown of Canton, but maybe that's what you're looking for!

cool! The only thing that bugged me about Canton was the fact that there was no walkable downtown
And I agree about the "borders" situation, Canton seems like a pretty good city, albeit congested and busy.
