Smile Best Fireworks in the D

Who has the best fireworks in the suburbs? Went to Livonia's last night, but the Spree didn't even shut down their brightly lit rides (which I could've sworn they did last year). Who has the best fireworks and why? (Location, a carnival, best show, least traffic, etc.)

Lapeer used to have EXCELLENT ones...I know that's a bit far out from the suburbs, but they were big and not crowded at all. Unfortunately with all the budget issues I'm not sure if they still even have them.

I know this isn't remotely helpful but the guy who lives across the street from me always buys a ton of illegal "real" fireworks and puts on an amazing show! We just walk out in the front yard with a beer and enjoy. Couldn't get much more convenient! I guess living in the middle of nowhere does have SOME benefits...

Detroit has the best show. But that is over.

We like the show that Trenton puts on. It is nice to have the fireworks over the water.

There used to be good shows at Kensington metropark (Kent Lake) and Whitmore Lake. I do not know whether either of them still do a show.

I should start with the fact that I am in OH now and so I have no idea when the Metro Detroit shows are scheduled. But with that said,

Canton had EXCELLENT fireworks.

Wyandotte was usually pretty darn good, right on the river.

Most of the Metro Parks are good shows.

Several years ago, I had to work in Sterling Heights and was driving to my boyfriend's in Lansing on July 4. I got onto 96 around 9:45pm. I watched fireworks for my whole drive-- it was really neat and there was no hassle with trying to get away from the venue, as I was on the expressway!

Sadly, none over Kensington this year.
