I just moved to Michigan from California in July of 2006. Because it's a big deal here, I'll mention that I'm a 31 year old married white male with 3 small kids.
We just moved to Royal Oak 2 weeks ago. I am curious to hear what you locals have to say about this part of "town"? Good, bad, ugly??? Obviously we've already made the move, but still I'm curious to hear a local spin on this area. Thanks! |

Best area in the state.
Close to Somerset (the only viable shopping in the state) Downtown is the best downtown for food & entertainment. I like it much better than where I am (Ann Arbor) Very short drive to Detroit, Meadowbrook & DTE. Also, though the lofts are all overpriced, single family homes are a deal. |

I wouldn't say Royal Oak is the Best area in the state, however it's a very nice city to live, shop, and just hang out in. The downtown area is very trendy. Houses are a little overpriced though.
