Saturday, Sunday and Monday had the sun shinning with blue sky and some spotted white clouds around. Temps where in the low 30's.

It was sunny and clear here in OC too but it was also 78. We cleaned off the patio furniture and barbecued on Sunday.

From what I've read here and on other fourms it seems to be a matter of "embracing" the weather whatever it is (not that you would really have a choice). I just can't seem to fathom only being able to look at a beautiful, sunny day through the window of my heated house, rather than being outside in the fresh air. It it just a mindset that I will need to adopt?

Thanks everyone for the info!

Dearborn is sunny and clear today. Temp is about 36 degress at 9:30 AM. It's supposed to zoom up there to around 38 by this afternoon. I believe I'll walk the dogs then. They love it. As for me, I love it when the air is brisk and fresh. No oily sweating, and your skin has a healthy glow after a good walk in the winter. A nice cup of hot tea..... ahhhh! Delightful!

If you love the outdoors, there is still plenty to do when its chilly out. If you are, or can get into skiing, maybe get a few snowmobiles and take some trips up to beautiful northern Michigan or the AMAZING U.P., there is still plenty of things to do. The cold, and doing "cold weather" activities brings a whole new set of experiences for the senses, Like the feeling you get before and after a nice snowfall, as jsqueezer mentioned, sipping some hot tea or cocoa on a cold day, watching the kids make a snowman (when we get snow), Christmas time in Michigan, and my personnel favorite, of going on a long snowmobile ride, and stopping at a small out of the way place to eat. Its just different feelings you will have in the winter months, but you definitely have to get out and keep from going crazy. This is a beautiful state, we have tons and tons of great beaches, campgrounds, fishing, boating, plenty to do during the warm months. If you can adapt to the cold, you just might like it here.

"Michigan weather - gloomy or just cold?"

Today, neither. Sunny and pushing 40.

Sun angle is increasing too. It hit 38 today, warmest in a month, and the snow really took a beating from the sun. Snow now is freezing into a solid mass as its nighttime, but depth now is only 3-4" after todays sun. Still tons of huge snowbanks everywhere, but also some salt-stained grass is making its appearance next to some busy roads and freeways.
